GOOD SEARCH - A GREAT AND FREE WAY TO RAISE FUNDS!

Ever use Google on the Internet to search for
something? How about Yahoo? We all have our
favorite search engine. There is a new way to search on
the Internet and earn money for our church. It is called
“Good Search”. Similar to our King Soopers, Safeway or
Vitamin Cottage cards, it won’t cost you anything, but will
generate money for the church.

Good Search is powered by Yahoo, and is a
very powerful search engine. It is set up for charities
and non-profit organizations. For every search you do,
our church will earn $0.01. Doesn’t seem like much, but
it adds up quickly. Some in our church use their
computer once a week. Others use their computer every
day.

When you are looking for information, you can
often do a dozen searches in one sitting. Assume as a
congregation we do 50 searches a day, (that’s one per
family average) that is $3.50 a week, $14 a month or
$168 for the year for searching. Good Search also will
donate 3% of any purchase you do while shopping
through Good Search. This includes buying products
on-line through any on-line vendor (Amazon, Best Buy,
Eddie Bauer, E-Bay, Target or any place you can buy
on-line) or booking travel through (Expedia) on Good
Search. This will add up even faster, and create another
couple of hundred dollars. All at no cost to our
congregation. Every little bit helps.

Here are some simple directions for using Good
Search.

1) On the Internet, type in “goodsearch.com”
to get to the website

2) In the second box that requests “enter your
charity here …” type in “Northglenn United
Church of Christ”. Or you can type in
“Northglenn” and pick our church from one of the
registered charities that have Northglenn in the
name. We have pre-registered Northglenn
United Church of Christ. See the screen shot
below.

3) Then search the web or do some shopping.
Use it as you would Google or Yahoo. Look up
information, articles or shop. You can even
make Good Search your home page, or book
mark it as a favorite. We don’t recommend
adding the Good Search “tool bar” as it seemed
to make the computer run a bit slower.
Otherwise the search engine works great.
The example below shows how you can search
for information selecting Northglenn United Church of
Christ as your charity.

Tell your friends and family, have them use
Good Search. You can see how much has been earned
by clicking on the “Amount Raised” button.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to
contact Anne Powell or Jeff Mehle. Let us know how the
search engine works for you.
